U.S. Buyers: That €50 Ring Might Cost You $160 and more — Here’s How to Dodge It
Heads-Up, U.S. Humans
If you’re in the U.S. and love buying weird, bold, handmade jewelry from overseas (hi, that’s me 👋), there’s a new customs rule coming to ruin your vibe:
As of August 29, 2025, U.S. customs may charge you a $160 import fee + 18% on anything I send by post. Even if it costs €30. Yeah.
It’s part of a “temporary trade enforcement” thing under something called the IEEPA. Don’t worry — I read the fine print so you don’t have to.
🇺🇸 U.S. is suspending its $800 tax-free limit for postal shipments from countries like Bulgaria (where I make your shiny things)
- That means you might get hit with $160 PER ITEM in customs fees
- Only affects packages shipped by postal services
- Courier services (like DHL, FedEx, UPS) are safe
Switching to Courier Shipping Only
That means DHL or another express service with no nasty $160 fee. Bonus: it’s faster and doesn’t get lost in a post office for 2 weeks.
✅ Free Shipping
DHL costs €30+ per order. So the free shipping will be available for US orders one €250 / $292
Final Thoughts (aka The Rant)
I make it by hand. I don’t outsource to sweatshops, and I sure as hell don’t profit off shipping.
This new U.S. import rule? Absolute clownery.
But I’ve found a way around it — and I’ll keep finding ways to make bold, rebellious jewelry for you without hidden bullshit. I’ll try to dip in wholesale and/or stock in stores in US.
